Anxiety Skill: Grounding practice
Do you find your mind wanders often? Then this grounding practice may be helpful for you.
Anxiety can cause us to ‘zone out’ and move further and further away from the present moment. This skill is well known, yet oh so powerful in bringing our minds back to the present. Grounding ourselves through our senses allows our minds to come back into our bodies. This is one of my favourite skills because if you feel overwhelmed by your surroundings, you can simply choose to imagine your favourite things instead. When we engage our senses, we tap into the power of ‘now’. As you work through this worksheet, write a few notes to yourself that you can bring with you anytime you may feel anxious or overwhelmed.
